Connecticut Man Found Guilty in Girlfriend’s Murder; Child Still Missing

A Connecticut jury has found Jose Morales guilty of murder and evidence tampering in a 2019 case. The verdict comes nearly five years after Christine Holloway was found dead inside her home in Ansonia. Despite this conviction, the missing child case involving their daughter remains unsolved.

Morales, now 48, faces a sentence of 25 to 65 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for July 8. Holloway was killed in her apartment, located just 10 miles west of New Haven. Authorities discovered she had been beaten to death with a blunt object.

Morales testified in court and denied the charges. He claimed two masked intruders entered the home during the incident. According to him, one attacker struck Holloway with a crowbar. The other allegedly assaulted him and kidnapped their 14-month-old daughter, Vanessa.

However, prosecutors did not believe his story. During closing arguments, they described Morales as violent and dishonest. They argued he attempted to clean up the crime scene after the murder. The jury agreed and delivered a swift verdict after only two hours of deliberation.

Following the killing, police issued an Amber Alert for Vanessa. Her whereabouts remain unknown. Her photo and details still appear on the FBI’s website. The missing child case continues to raise questions that remain unanswered.

Back in 2019, Ansonia police named Morales a suspect in the child’s disappearance. However, no charges were ever filed related to Vanessa. Even today, investigators continue to search for clues.

Morales admitted he was high on PCP the night Holloway died. Yet, his defense argued there was no proof he intended to kill her. Despite their efforts, the jury sided with the prosecution.

Now, as Morales awaits sentencing, the missing child case continues to haunt the state. Authorities remain hopeful for new leads.
