Trump Touts Airstrike on Houthis, Declares: “Will Never Sink Our Ships Again”

President Donald Trump has publicly shared video footage of a recent U.S. airstrike on Houthi rebels, intensifying the administration’s show of military force after nearly three weeks of sustained attacks. The operation comes in response to a series of Houthi actions against U.S. and Israeli interests in the Red Sea region.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack. Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis! They will never sink our ships again!” The aerial video appeared to show a targeted group of individuals moments before a large blast left behind only a crater.

The Trump administration has carried out daily airstrikes against the Iranian backed Houthi movement for the last 20 days. These strikes began after the Houthis issued new threats against Israeli ships, following Israel’s decision to block humanitarian aid headed for Gaza.

Last month, the Houthis claimed responsibility for attacks on the USS Harry S. Truman and other U.S. naval vessels operating in the Red Sea. Since March 3, the group has shot down three U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drones, escalating tensions further.

In response, the State Department has imposed sanctions targeting individuals and entities linked to the Houthis’ financial and procurement operations. These sanctions are aimed at disrupting the group’s access to resources and curbing their operational capabilities.

National Security Advisor Mike Waltz described the group as “like al Qaeda or ISIS with advanced cruise and ballistic missiles,” adding that their capabilities are largely supplied by Iran. “Keeping the sea lanes open, keeping trade and commerce open, is a fundamental aspect of our national security,” Waltz emphasized.
