NASA and SpaceX have postponed the Crew-10 mission, which was initially scheduled for launch tonight at 7:49 PM ET from Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A. Due to a stand-down decision from both NASA and SpaceX, the next launch opportunity will occur on March 13th at 7:26 PM ET.
The Crew-10 mission will eventually transport NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams back to Earth after they have spent nine months aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Their mission aboard the Boeing Starliner, which launched on June 5th, 2024, was initially planned as an eight-day journey but was extended due to technical issues, including thruster failures and helium leaks. These challenges made it unsafe to return using Starliner, and the astronauts will now be brought back home on the Crew-9 capsule. Their return is tentatively scheduled for March 16th, 2025, alongside two astronauts from the Crew-9 mission, which launched to the ISS on September 28th, 2024.
The Crew-10 mission includes NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers, JAXA mission specialist Takuya Onishi, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov. The crew will spend several months aboard the ISS, conducting experiments, performing research, and carrying out spacewalks.
