Microsoft Flight Simulator Adds Compact Xbox Aviation Controller

The Xbox Flight Controller is set to bring a new experience to Microsoft Flight Simulator players using Xbox Series X|S consoles. Honeycomb plans to introduce the Echo Aviation Controller XPC, a specialized accessory designed for console flight simulation. The device aims to provide a simpler alternative to traditional aviation setups.

Previously, the Echo Aviation Controller focused mainly on PC users who wanted a compact solution for flight simulation games. The existing model supports Microsoft Flight Simulator and other aviation titles on computers. Additionally, users can connect the controller with certain flight simulation programs on Mac devices.

However, Honeycomb is now expanding its product range with a console-focused version. The new controller will specifically support Xbox Series X|S systems, while PlayStation 5 compatibility will not be available. Although Microsoft Flight Simulator also exists on Sony’s console, the upcoming accessory targets Xbox players.

The Xbox Flight Controller combines several aviation controls into one compact device. Traditional flight simulation equipment often requires separate pedals, throttle systems, and control units. Instead, this controller integrates those functions into a single design, making it easier for users to manage their aircraft.

Furthermore, the compact design could benefit players who want more flexibility while gaming. Unlike larger flight simulation setups, the controller does not require complicated mounting systems or additional equipment. As a result, users can transport and connect the accessory more easily.

Previous testing of the original controller showed positive results across PC and Mac platforms. The device provided a practical experience for flight simulation enthusiasts, although some setup challenges appeared. In particular, configuring certain controls required additional adjustments depending on the simulation software.

Microsoft Flight Simulator presented some difficulties during configuration because of its control settings. However, the issue appeared connected to the game’s interface rather than the controller itself. Therefore, the Xbox version could become more accessible if Microsoft introduces dedicated profiles for the new accessory.

Honeycomb currently provides downloadable profiles to help users configure the controller on PC. Meanwhile, players hope similar support will become available for Xbox users after launch. Such improvements could make the setup process faster and more convenient for beginners.

The company expects the new controller to arrive in fall 2026, although pricing details remain unavailable. Additionally, availability information for the existing PC and Mac version remains limited. Honeycomb says more units will become available soon and plans to provide future updates.

Overall, the Xbox Flight Controller represents another step toward making flight simulation more accessible on consoles. By combining multiple aviation controls into one compact accessory, Honeycomb hopes to attract both experienced pilots and newcomers. The upcoming release could provide Xbox players with a more immersive way to explore virtual aviation.
