Windows 11 24H2 Update Finally Rolls Out After Wallpaper App Compatibility Fix

Microsoft has now resolved the issue that caused some Windows 11 users to be stuck on an earlier update due to incompatibilities with wallpaper customization apps. With the 24H2 update now available, users previously affected can finally upgrade to the latest version, six months after its initial release.

Wallpaper apps, which allow for features like animated wallpapers, were causing issues with the update. Microsoft temporarily blocked the update for affected devices but has now started gradually lifting the hold. To complete the installation, users may need to uninstall or update their wallpaper apps. Compatibility will depend on the specific app and its developer’s updates.

If you’re able to upgrade now, why not celebrate by exploring some new wallpaper apps? If you’re interested, there are a variety of dynamic, animated wallpapers that offer much more than the standard options available through Microsoft.
