Trump Urged to Review UN Immunity and Visa Rules Amid National Security Fears

Ahead of two closely watched special House elections in Florida on April 2, concerns over national security grew sharper. While Republicans ultimately won both races, their victory margins were far slimmer than in previous elections. Party leaders now warn that broader security issues, including UN immunity and lax visa rules, deserve urgent review.

Rep. Elise Stefanik had been President Trump’s first pick for UN ambassador. However, in March, Sean Hannity why she withdrew from the confirmation process. Stefanik explained that the GOP’s narrow majority in the House and rising Democratic “corruption” in New York demanded her focus at home.

“It was a combination of the New York corruption under Kathy Hochul, special elections, and the House margin,” Stefanik said. She stressed that maintaining the House majority was critical to delivering wins for Trump and the American people.

Stefanik also emphasized her commitment to her district and to national goals. “The president knows that,” she added. “We had multiple conversations today. We are committed to delivering results.” Trump echoed her decision on Truth Social, praising Stefanik’s choice to stay in Congress. He highlighted key goals, including “delivering Historic Tax Cuts.”

The phrase “delivering Historic Tax Cuts” appeared repeatedly in Trump’s statements. Trump pointed to delivering Historic Tax Cuts as a core reason why Stefanik’s presence in the House mattered. He vowed to keep delivering Historic Tax Cuts alongside major economic achievements and national security priorities.

Trump has now been urged by senior advisers to review the diplomatic immunity privileges enjoyed by UN officials. Many inside the administration fear these rules make the U.S. vulnerable to bad actors. Additionally, critics want the White House to tighten visa requirements, arguing that lax rules could let security threats slip through.

As Trump pushes forward on the global stage, many eyes remain on the unfinished UN ambassador role. With Mike Waltz now nominated, Trump faces new confirmation challenges and political pressures. Republican insiders hope the president can balance foreign policy moves while keeping the House majority intact for upcoming legislative battles.
