Millie Bobby Brown opened up about her social challenges while reflecting on her childhood as a working actor. The Millie Bobby Brown socialization comments explained how growing up on professional film sets affected her ability to relate to people her own age.
Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, Brown said she feels disconnected from many people in their early twenties. She explained that she missed traditional childhood experiences while building her acting career. When asked about missed milestones, she immediately identified socialization as the biggest gap in her upbringing.
Brown said she did not attend a traditional school during her childhood. Instead, she spent much of her early life working on film and television productions alongside adult crew members.
She joked that fans sometimes approach her with excitement, but she struggles to respond naturally. Brown said those interactions remind her that connecting with people her own age can still feel difficult.
The actress explained that many production crews she worked with consisted mainly of men over 40 years old. As a result, she spent much of her childhood listening to conversations about filmmaking instead of everyday childhood topics.
Brown said she regularly heard discussions about equipment, production logistics, and technical work while growing up. She explained that those conversations became a normal part of her daily routine.
Because of that environment, Brown developed extensive knowledge about filmmaking at an early age. She said she can comfortably discuss camera lenses, shot selections, and other production details for long periods.
However, she acknowledged finding everyday social conversations much more challenging. Brown said discussions about favorite restaurants, bars, or similar interests often feel unfamiliar to her.
Brown began her professional acting career in 2013 with a role in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. She later gained international recognition after starring as Jane “Eleven” Hopper in Stranger Things from 2016 through 2025.
She also shared how her personal life has influenced her confidence in social settings. Brown credited her husband, Jake Bongiovi, with encouraging her to embrace social situations more openly.
Brown described Bongiovi as the complete opposite of her personality. She said his experiences at boarding school and college made him naturally outgoing and comfortable around people.
Meeting Bongiovi inspired Brown to become more socially active. She said she has intentionally stepped outside her comfort zone and now considers herself to be in her “social era.”
Brown and Bongiovi married in May 2024. In August 2025, they announced through a joint Instagram post that they had welcomed a baby girl through adoption. They also said they looked forward to parenthood while requesting privacy during that new chapter.
The Millie Bobby Brown socialization comments provide insight into how an unconventional childhood influenced her personal development. Her reflections also show how supportive relationships have helped her become more comfortable in social situations over time.
