Iran’s Delegation Arrives in Oman for Indirect Nuclear Talks with US

An Iranian delegation has arrived in Muscat, Oman, for indirect talks with U.S. officials regarding Tehran’s nuclear program. The discussions come after Tehran rejected a U.S. offer for direct negotiations last month, emphasizing a preference for diplomatic engagement through intermediaries.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi described the meeting as both “an opportunity and a test,” signaling cautious optimism while underscoring the need to evaluate Washington’s intentions. The Iranian Foreign Ministry reiterated its commitment to diplomacy, with spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stating on social media, “We intend to assess the other side’s intent and resolve this Saturday. We shall reflect and respond accordingly.”

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump previewed the talks, calling them a “very big meeting” and expressing hope for a successful outcome. “It would be in Iran’s best interests if they are successful,” he remarked during a White House briefing on Monday.

The negotiations mark another critical juncture in the strained U.S.-Iran relationship, with global powers closely monitoring whether the two sides can make progress toward curbing Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
