Tulsa, Okla. Senator Bernie Sanders condemned President Donald Trump’s military strike on the Islamic Republic of Iran during a fiery campaign rally Saturday night. While Sanders spoke at a “Fighting Oligarchy” rally, Trump announced the U.S. had bombed three nuclear sites in Iran. An aide interrupted Sanders mid-speech with the news, delivered via Trump’s post on Truth Social.
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran,” Trump wrote. He mentioned strikes on Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. The crowd fell silent as Sanders read Trump’s post aloud. Then, they erupted into chants of “No more wars!”
Trump claimed, “All planes are now outside of Iran air space.” He congratulated the military, adding, “Now is the time for peace.” However, Sanders immediately criticized the strike, calling it unconstitutional and dangerous. “The president does not have the right,” he declared to loud applause.
Under the Constitution, only Congress can declare war. Sanders reminded supporters that Trump had bypassed that process again. In response, a bipartisan coalition in Congress introduced a new War Powers Resolution this week. The measure seeks to halt unauthorized U.S. military action in Iran.
Sanders warned that escalating conflict could distract from urgent domestic issues. “The American people do not want more war, more death!” he said. Additionally, He urged leaders to focus on problems at home in Oklahoma, Vermont, and across the nation. “We must stand up and say: this is our country!” Sanders shouted, echoing the rally’s defiant mood.
This latest military move comes amid growing tension between Iran and Israel. Sanders has repeatedly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s aggressive actions. Earlier this week, Sanders stated Netanyahu should not shape U.S. foreign policy. He called Israel’s recent strikes on Iran another violation of international law.
No more wars echoed again as Sanders wrapped up his second rally of the day, part of his southern tour. Rep. Greg Casar and Beto O’Rourke will join him in Texas next. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also recently appeared with Sanders in the west.
In Conclusion, His tour, targeting Republican-held districts, reflects a broader Democratic strategy to challenge the conservative stronghold. From Shreveport to Tulsa, Sanders’ message remains clear No more wars.
