Senior Living Community in Walnut Creek Breaks Ground with Over 350 New Homes

A new senior living community in Walnut Creek has officially begun construction, bringing fresh housing options to older adults. The Glen at Heather Farm, located at 850 Seven Hills Ranch Road, is the latest development by Spieker Senior Development Partners. With more than 350 residences planned, this large-scale project aims to meet growing demand for quality senior housing.

The senior living community in Walnut Creek will feature 354 total residences. These include 302 independent-living apartments and 52 single-family villas. The apartments will be constructed above a spacious garage that fits 410 vehicles. Additionally, a two-story health center will provide 100 units of assisted living and memory care.

Architectural plans show a blend of modern and traditional design. The apartments will have detailed facades, combining stucco, brick, fiber cement, and wood elements. The single-family villas, designed in a farmhouse style, will offer private garages and front yards with planned landscaping.

KTGY is leading the architectural work, while Gates + Associates manages the landscaping. The layout reflects a balance of comfort and accessibility, catering specifically to senior needs.

This senior living community in Walnut Creek sits on unincorporated land surrounded by city limits. It’s conveniently located just 15 minutes from the Pleasant Hill BART Station by bus or six minutes by bike. The Walnut Creek Canal and Seven Hills School lie adjacent to the development, providing scenic and educational surroundings.

Originally announced in early 2024, the project saw permit filings again in March 2025. Now that construction is officially underway, the estimated completion date is set for late 2027 or early 2028. Developers say the project will support community growth while providing vital services for aging residents.

More than just housing, this development offers lifestyle upgrades for seniors. It combines medical care, accessible transit, and thoughtful design. With so many features in place, this project signals a new chapter in age-friendly housing.
