BlueFirst cabin will bring a new domestic first-class option to JetBlue flights this fall. The airline has revealed details about the new premium seating experience. The product will combine larger seats, priority services, upgraded meals, and entertainment features.
JetBlue says customers increasingly want more comfortable travel options. The airline designed BlueFirst to offer a more premium experience on domestic routes. At the same time, JetBlue wants the new cabin to maintain its existing service style.
Passengers will receive priority treatment before they board their flights. BlueFirst customers will board in Group 1 on eligible flights. They will also have access to expedited security lanes at more than 30 airports.
Once onboard, passengers will find seats arranged in a two-by-two layout. The seats will recline by up to five inches for added comfort. They will also provide up to seven inches of additional legroom compared with standard seating.
The number of BlueFirst seats will vary by aircraft. JetBlue plans to install 12 seats on its Airbus A220 aircraft. Its A320 aircraft will also feature 12 BlueFirst seats. Meanwhile, the larger A321 aircraft will have 16 seats.
The new cabin will also include upgraded entertainment technology. Each seat will feature a screen measuring more than 13 inches. Passengers can use the screens for entertainment and onboard ordering.
Travelers will also be able to connect wireless headphones through Bluetooth. The system will provide another way for passengers to enjoy entertainment during flights. Customers can also use their screens to select meals and other available products.
JetBlue is introducing a new dining concept called FirstFare. The airline will serve meals in bento-style boxes on qualifying flights. Routes covering at least 899 miles will offer a main dish, side, and dessert.
Menu choices will include several different meal options. Travelers may choose sweet or savory crepes on selected flights. Other choices will include sesame noodles with beef or tofu.
The airline will also offer snacks from several food brands. These selections will rotate as JetBlue updates its onboard offerings. Overnight travelers will receive a blanket and a small sleep kit.
Power access will also be available at every BlueFirst seat. Passengers will have USB-A and USB-C charging options. Each seat will also include a 110VAC power outlet.
Another feature will allow passengers to customize certain drinks. JetBlue calls this feature Mixologist Mode. Customers can select a spirit, mixer, and flavor combination through their seatback screen.
A crew member will then prepare the selected drink onboard. The feature adds another interactive element to the premium cabin experience. It also gives passengers more control over their beverage choices.
JetBlue plans to open BlueFirst for bookings during the fall. The airline has not yet provided all initial routes and availability details. Additional information is expected later this year.
The new cabin follows JetBlue’s recent changes to its fare structure. The airline announced four main seating categories in July. Those options include Main, EvenMore, Mint, and BlueFirst.
Main remains the airline’s standard onboard experience. EvenMore provides a premium economy-style option with additional benefits. Mint continues to offer premium lie-flat seating on selected routes.
BlueFirst will therefore give JetBlue another option for domestic travelers seeking premium service. The airline expects the product to strengthen its overall travel offering. It also provides more choice for customers who want added comfort on domestic flights.
The launch comes as airlines continue developing different cabin products for travelers. Passengers increasingly have several options when choosing comfort levels and onboard services. JetBlue’s latest offering gives customers another way to upgrade their travel experience.
Overall, the BlueFirst cabin represents a significant addition to JetBlue’s domestic network. The new product combines larger seats, priority services, upgraded food, and digital features. With bookings opening this fall, travelers will soon have more details about routes and availability.
