Tech Prosperity Deal Strengthens U.S.-U.K. Ties as Trump Prepares for Charlie Kirk Memorial

President Donald Trump spent the week in the United Kingdom, advancing both diplomacy and economic cooperation. During his visit, he and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the Tech Prosperity Deal, a major technology-focused investment.

This $350 billion deal aims to create 15,000 jobs in the U.K. and 2,500 in the U.S. The initiative will fund 12 advanced nuclear reactors. These reactors will support energy needs for both nations. Trump emphasized the deal’s importance during public remarks.

The Tech Prosperity Deal also promises to generate $50 billion in economic value. It will provide energy to as many as 1.5 million homes. Starmer praised the collaboration, calling it a joint step into a new era of innovation. “It’s a blueprint to win this new era together,” Starmer said during the press conference. “We are shaping it through shared values and mutual ambition.”

He also highlighted corporate support from major firms like Nvidia, OpenAI, Google, and Salesforce. These companies have committed to boosting British tech jobs for the long term. Later, Trump attended a state dinner at Windsor Castle alongside King Charles III and other royal family members. He reflected on the long-standing relationship between the two nations. “We’re joined by history, language, and destiny,” Trump said.

On Thursday, Trump returned to Washington. By Sunday, he will travel to Arizona for the memorial of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The event will take place at State Farm Stadium, which can hold more than 70,000 people.

Kirk, only 31, was killed on September 10 during a stop on his American Comeback Tour. The tragedy has increased concerns about Trump’s security. In 2024, Trump survived two assassination attempts.

A senior official confirmed that federal agencies are monitoring security threats ahead of the service. These include potential threats to Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other attendees. The Department of Homeland Security warned of possible dangers from extremists or lone wolf actors. Officials expect large media attention, which could make the memorial a target.

Despite the risks, Trump said he plans to speak at the event. “I’ll probably say a few words,” he told reporters. “I knew him well. He inspired young people across the country.” The week wrapped up with a powerful contrast: the forward-looking Tech Prosperity Deal, and the somber remembrance of Charlie Kirk. Yet both events reflect Trump’s ongoing influence—globally in tech, and deeply within conservative America.
