A deadly scene unfolded in Tremonton, Utah, after multiple 911 hangup calls alerted officers to a possible domestic dispute. Although officers responded quickly, the call turned into a tragedy. Sergeant Lee Sorensen and Officer Eric Estrada from the Tremonton Garland Police Department answered the call. As they approached the home, they followed standard procedure.
Initially, the first officer spoke with someone who appeared to report domestic issues. However, a man then exited the home and opened fire. As a result, he shot the officer multiple times. Shortly after, the second officer arrived at the scene. Unfortunately, the gunman immediately fired again, striking and killing the second officer.
Meanwhile, a Box Elder County Sheriff’s deputy responded to assist. When the deputy pulled up, the suspect shot several rounds into his patrol vehicle. Consequently, bullets hit both the deputy and his police dog. Thankfully, emergency crews arrived quickly and transported them to the hospital. According to doctors, both the deputy and dog remain in stable condition.
During the standoff, nearby residents bravely took action. They urged the shooter to surrender and drop his weapon. Eventually, he complied, and responding officers arrested him without further violence. Although police have not officially released the suspect’s name, media outlets identified him as Ryan Michael Bate. According to court records, prosecutors charged him with capital aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder, and assault.
