U.S. Intelligence Links Venezuelan Regime to Criminal Network Threatening National Security

According to a recently shared unclassified intelligence summary, U.S. federal authorities believe that certain officials within the Venezuelan government are likely facilitating the movement of members of a notorious transnational criminal organization from Venezuela into the United States. This action is believed to align with the Venezuelan regime’s broader objective of destabilizing public safety and undermining democratic institutions abroad.

A senior government official stated that this assessment stems from a broader intelligence analysis highlighting how these criminal networks are potentially being used as instruments of influence, not just within the U.S., but across several Latin American nations, including Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador. The report suggests this is part of a deliberate strategy by Venezuela’s leadership to interfere in the internal affairs of neighboring countries and extend its reach through unlawful proxy actions.

Over the next six to eighteen months, law enforcement expects attempts by these operatives to escalate, potentially targeting members of the Venezuelan diaspora in the U.S. particularly those who are vocal critics of the current regime. These threats may include intimidation, abduction, or worse.

This development follows federal legal action involving racketeering charges brought against members of the criminal organization, who have been accused of engaging in serious crimes such as drug trafficking, assault, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Another intelligence source reinforced the claim that the group has long benefited from conditions within Venezuela and that the country’s leadership continues to harbor and support its operations. They argue this behavior parallels that of other regimes that have historically provided safe haven to violent extremists.

However, contrasting perspectives have emerged from other intelligence agencies, with a separate classified report suggesting no confirmed coordination between the criminal group and Venezuelan authorities. The credibility of that report has been publicly disputed by government officials, who accuse those behind the leak of manipulating intelligence to serve a political agenda.

The debate reflects deeper tensions within the intelligence community regarding the extent of foreign influence operations and how best to counter them. While much of the intelligence remains classified, officials insist that the threat is credible and growing, and that it warrants continued vigilance from national security agencies.
