A tragic incident occurred in Cypress, Texas, when a woman died after her SUV rolled over multiple times, striking fences and a power box before finally coming to a stop in a backyard.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported that the crash took place around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Cypress North Houston Road and Cypress Creek Forest Drive, just outside of Houston. Charlotte Yvette Stegall, the woman driving the 2025 Mercedes G-Class SUV, was alone in the vehicle at the time.
Investigators revealed that Stegall was traveling west on Cypress North Houston Road when she drifted out of her lane and briefly crossed into the eastbound lane. Her vehicle then left the road, crashing into several fences. The SUV rolled over several times before landing upright in a nearby backyard.
First responders arrived quickly but found Stegall trapped inside the SUV. They pronounced her dead at the scene. “Our hearts go out to all who are affected by this incident,” the power company said in a statement.
The crash caused significant damage to the area. The SUV struck a gas barbecue grill during the rollover, which likely ignited a small fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames before they could spread. Additionally, the vehicle collided with a power box, which caused a power outage in part of the neighborhood. Crews from CenterPoint Energy worked to restore electricity by 9 p.m. the same evening.
Fortunately, no residents in the nearby homes sustained injuries. Authorities temporarily closed the eastbound lanes of Cypress North Houston Road to allow for an investigation and ensure safety.
As of now, authorities have not disclosed the exact cause of the crash. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
