Meta Debuts AI App with Social Twist, Teams Up with Creators to Rival ChatGPT

Meta Platforms has officially stepped deeper into the artificial intelligence race with the launch of a new AI app. Unlike other tools in the space, this app brings a social spin to the experience. The move aims to set Meta apart from rivals like OpenAI.

The new Meta AI app runs on the company’s latest Llama 4 system. It features a “Discover” feed where users explore how others use AI. There’s also a voice mode, which lets people talk directly to the AI assistant.

Meta builds this experience with help from content creators. The tech giant hopes creators can shape how users connect with the AI. Meta’s AI with a social twist becomes the company’s key tool for standing out.

Users can link their Instagram and Facebook accounts to the app. This gives Meta quick access to personalize the experience using social data. That makes interactions feel more relevant and natural from the start.

According to analyst Mike Proulx at Forrester, the Discover feed feels like a modern version of Facebook’s original news feed. But instead of status updates, it now shows creative AI use cases. Meta’s AI with a social twist also encourages interaction between users, AI tools, and influencers.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg discussed the launch at LlamaCon, the company’s new developer conference. During the event, he sat down with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. The two tech leaders shared ideas about the fast pace of AI innovation and its global impact.

Zuckerberg acknowledged that AI still comes with a lot of buzz. However, he stressed that true progress must reflect in economic productivity. “We want to see real GDP growth,” he said.

Nadella compared the moment to the rise of electricity. While it brought promise, real transformation took decades. He added that people must change how they work to unlock AI’s potential.

Zuckerberg responded, “We’re investing as if it won’t take 50 years — let’s hope it doesn’t.”

Meta continues to open-source its AI models, making them free for developers. The company says over one billion people already use Meta’s AI tools monthly.

Meta’s AI with a social twist marks a new direction in combining tech, community, and conversation. The company hopes that by blending AI with human creativity, it can lead the next wave of innovation.
