CoreWeave shares jumped sharply before Wednesday’s market opening after the company reported powerful second-quarter growth. AI demand helped the company double quarterly revenue as customers expanded spending on advanced computing infrastructure. Consequently, investors responded positively to stronger financial guidance and signs of improving operating performance.
CoreWeave reported second-quarter revenue of $2.6 billion, representing a 112% increase from $1.2 billion previously. Furthermore, management expects third-quarter revenue to reach between $3.4 billion and $3.6 billion. That forecast suggests continued momentum as businesses and major technology companies expand artificial intelligence infrastructure.
However, CoreWeave continues operating without profitability despite its rapidly increasing revenue and customer commitments. Operating expenses climbed to approximately $2.6 billion, compared with $1.2 billion during last year’s second quarter. As a result, the company recorded an operating loss of $49 million during the latest quarter.
Nevertheless, CoreWeave highlighted several developments that indicate improving efficiency as its business continues expanding. Management said greater scale increasingly supports stronger operating leverage across the company’s growing infrastructure platform. Meanwhile, customer demand continues accelerating as more enterprises adopt artificial intelligence technologies.
The company reported a revenue backlog worth approximately $104 billion as of June 30. Importantly, that figure excludes another $25 billion in customer commitments secured during the third quarter. Therefore, CoreWeave enters the second half with substantial contracted demand supporting its future revenue outlook.
CoreWeave also added several customers during the quarter, including Bentley Systems, Grammarly, Isomorphic Labs, and Sunday Robotics. Additionally, the company strengthened important commercial relationships with existing customers and strategic partners. Jane Street committed $1 billion toward strategic investments, while Meta added another $21 billion to its spending plans.
These commitments strengthen CoreWeave’s position within the rapidly expanding market for specialized artificial intelligence computing infrastructure. Moreover, they provide greater visibility into future revenue while supporting continued investment in data centers and computing capacity.
CoreWeave still faces significant financial pressure because it has accumulated substantial debt while rapidly expanding infrastructure. Therefore, investors must balance the company’s exceptional growth against its continuing capital requirements and operating losses.
Analysts at Citi viewed the quarter favorably and described the results as unusually clean for CoreWeave. They pointed toward stronger pricing power, resilient artificial intelligence demand, and improving software-related business opportunities.
In addition, analysts highlighted better-than-expected margins and upward revisions to profitability expectations. They also pointed toward stronger customer diversification and improved execution across CoreWeave’s expanding operations.
The broader specialized cloud market also continues benefiting from rapid artificial intelligence investment worldwide. Providers focused on graphics processing units have attracted significant capital as companies race to secure computing resources.
Meanwhile, other artificial intelligence infrastructure companies have also experienced strong investor interest ahead of upcoming financial results. Semiconductor and data-center equipment businesses have similarly benefited as demand for computing capacity continues expanding.
CoreWeave’s latest results therefore reinforce the strength of AI demand across the infrastructure market. At the same time, the company’s growing backlog gives investors greater visibility into future expansion.
Still, profitability remains an important issue as CoreWeave continues spending heavily to expand its infrastructure footprint. Investors will consequently monitor margins, debt levels, customer concentration, and execution during upcoming quarters.
For the full year, CoreWeave expects revenue between $12.4 billion and $13.2 billion. Additionally, management forecasts adjusted operating income between $960 million and $1.15 billion.
Those projections suggest management expects improving profitability as increasing scale offsets some of the company’s substantial infrastructure costs. Consequently, Wednesday’s market reaction reflects growing confidence that CoreWeave can convert strong demand into sustainable financial performance.
AI demand remains the central driver behind CoreWeave’s growth, although execution will determine whether that momentum produces lasting profitability. For now, investors appear increasingly encouraged by stronger bookings, improving guidance, and continued expansion across artificial intelligence infrastructure.
