Home invasion investigators reached a major breakthrough after authorities arrested a second suspect connected to a deadly attack at a Connecticut residence. Following a two-month investigation, law enforcement officers located and detained the suspect in New York before beginning court proceedings. Authorities arrested 24-year-old Ivan Barias-Florimon after investigators identified him as a suspect in the June 3 shooting inside a Milford home. Officers worked with multiple law enforcement agencies throughout the investigation before locating him in the Bronx. Consequently, the arrest marked another significant development in the ongoing criminal case.
According to investigators, Frederick Raymond Werner, 69, died after two suspects allegedly forced their way into his residence and opened fire. During the attack, Werner’s wife also suffered serious injuries after sustaining a gunshot wound. She continues recovering while investigators monitor her condition and gather additional evidence related to the incident.
Police believe the suspects entered the couple’s East Broadway residence before carrying out the shooting. Detectives stated that available evidence indicates the incident did not occur randomly. Prosecutors charged Barias-Florimon with several serious criminal offenses following his arrest.
