The Ocelot chip, developed at the AWS Center for Quantum Computing at the California Institute of Technology, represents a major step forward in quantum error correction—a crucial component in building fault-tolerant quantum computers capable of solving complex problems beyond the reach of classical computers.
Amazon’s journey in quantum computing began in 2019 with the establishment of the AWS Center for Quantum Computing. By 2021, the center had launched a dedicated research facility at Caltech, setting its sights on developing a fault-tolerant quantum computer with the ability to perform highly accurate computations at scale.
