Father of 3 Marine Brothers Released from Detention Center

Narciso Barranco, father of 3 Marine brothers, has finally left an immigration detention center. After nearly a month in custody, he was released from California’s Adelanto Detention Center. He will face another court hearing to continue his case.

Orange City councilmember Arianna Barrios said on social media that Barranco’s upcoming hearing will focus on adjusting his immigration status. Officials aim to grant him parole in place because his wife holds U.S. citizenship. Additionally, his three American-born sons serve actively in the U.S. military.

Video footage showed Barranco exiting the detention center. He wore a brown jacket and hat and carried a plastic bag. Shortly afterward, he hugged one of his Marine sons and another family member. The footage caption noted that he now seeks privacy and medical care while his legal battle progresses.

Alejandro, Barranco’s Marine Corps veteran son, said his father wore the same clothes and cried when released. Barranco’s immigration lawyer, Lisa Ramirez, said she took him to the hospital for a physical check-up after his release.

Ramirez explained that “Narciso feels very happy to reunite with his family.” She also pointed out that he needs time to recover. “He experienced trauma during this ordeal and requires time to heal physically and emotionally,” she added.

Barranco’s detention began when masked men wearing “US Border Patrol Police” vests approached him while he worked landscaping outside a restaurant in Santa Ana, California. Videos show the agents pinning him down and punching him.

The Department of Homeland Security stated that Barranco tried to avoid law enforcement. A spokesperson said he swung a weed whacker at an agent’s face. They added that he fled through a busy intersection while raising the tool again at the agent.

Now free, the father of 3 Marine brothers plans to focus on his health and family. Although his legal fight continues, his reunion brings hope to those close to him.
