Palo Alto Networks Acquires Console for $500 Million

Console Acquisition marks a major move by Palo Alto Networks to strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities. The cybersecurity company agreed to acquire Console, a startup developing AI agents for routine IT support operations.

According to people familiar with the transaction, Palo Alto Networks paid approximately $500 million through cash and stock. However, the companies did not initially disclose the financial terms when they announced the agreement. The reported valuation represents a substantial increase from Console’s previous private-market valuation.

Console launched in 2024 and quickly attracted significant investment from prominent venture capital firms. The startup raised approximately $29 million through two funding rounds before Palo Alto Networks acquired the company. Its investors included several technology-focused investment groups that supported Console during its early development.

The company’s technology focuses on automating repetitive IT help desk responsibilities through artificial intelligence. For example, Console could handle password resets, manage application access, and troubleshoot common technical problems. Consequently, IT teams could reduce time spent handling routine requests and focus more heavily on complex issues.

Console had developed relationships with customers across several industries before the acquisition. Its technology supported organizations that needed faster responses to everyday technical requests. Meanwhile, the startup positioned its AI agents as tools capable of completing tasks without constant intervention from human employees.

Palo Alto Networks plans to integrate Console’s technology into Cortex, its broader cybersecurity platform. Cortex uses artificial intelligence to identify potential threats and help security teams respond to incidents. Therefore, Console’s automation capabilities could expand how security professionals investigate and address alerts.

The integration could allow security teams to interact with cybersecurity systems using natural language. Instead of manually completing every step, employees could use AI-driven agents to investigate alerts and perform appropriate response actions. As a result, Palo Alto Networks expects the technology to contribute toward more automated security operations.

Console founder Andrei Serban previously created another startup focused on software security. That earlier company eventually joined a larger technology organization, giving Serban additional experience building and developing technology businesses. Console later emerged with a focus on automating enterprise IT support.

Before the transaction, Console competed with startups developing artificial intelligence tools for IT service management. One notable competitor had expanded beyond technical support into areas including human resources, legal services, and financial operations. The acquisition therefore changes the competitive landscape within the growing AI automation market.

Console Acquisition also represents another major transaction for Palo Alto Networks during 2026. The cybersecurity company has pursued several acquisitions while expanding its technology portfolio across security, observability, and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, these transactions demonstrate the company’s broader strategy of adding specialized technologies through acquisitions.

The reported $500 million purchase price stands significantly above Console’s earlier valuation. PitchBook previously valued the startup at approximately $157 million before the sale. Consequently, early investors could receive substantial returns from the company’s rapid growth and acquisition.

Palo Alto Networks also counted its chief executive, Nikesh Arora, among Console’s early individual investors. His involvement gave him a direct financial connection to the startup before Palo Alto Networks pursued the acquisition.

Overall, Console Acquisition highlights growing interest in AI agents that can perform practical enterprise tasks. Companies increasingly seek technologies that automate repetitive workflows while allowing employees to concentrate on higher-value responsibilities. Meanwhile, cybersecurity providers continue adding AI capabilities as threats become more complex and organizations demand faster responses.

The transaction could ultimately strengthen Palo Alto Networks’ position in AI-powered enterprise security. By combining cybersecurity systems with automated IT support capabilities, the company aims to create more efficient security workflows. The deal therefore reflects a broader shift toward autonomous enterprise technology across multiple business functions.
