To reinforce that message, Washington has deployed its largest regional naval presence in decades. The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford recently arrived near Crete. It joined the USS Abraham Lincoln, which continues operations in the Arabian Sea. Together, their strike groups command fourteen major warships across strategic waters.
In addition, twelve F-22 Raptor fighters landed at Ovda Airbase in southern Israel. Defense specialists note that these aircraft excel at suppressing enemy air defenses. Consequently, their deployment signals preparation for high-intensity scenarios if deterrence fails.
Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, have rejected American demands publicly. They warn that any strike would trigger retaliation against United States forces and regional allies.
As the Iran Ultimatum Deadline approaches, both governments appear convinced the other may blink first. Nevertheless, the combination of diplomatic urgency and visible military power has created a volatile moment.
