Washington Man Accused in Family Fire Murders That Killed Father and Brother

A Washington man faces murder and arson charges after two relatives died in what authorities describe as family fire murders.

Detectives believe 25-year-old Luis Miguel Huitron Campos shot his father and brother, then set fire to their house to hide the crime. The deadly fire happened at the family’s home in Gig Harbor.

Firefighters and deputies responded quickly after a call reported the blaze. They found Oliverio Huitron-Rosalez, 64, and Alejandro Huitron Campos, 31, inside the burning house. Emergency crews pulled them out, but both men had already suffered fatal injuries.

Medical examiners later confirmed that both victims died from close-range gunshot wounds to the back of the head. They also found carbon monoxide in Oliverio’s blood, showing he was alive when the fire started. Meanwhile, Alejandro’s raised arms suggested he tried to defend himself.

Investigators examined the scene thoroughly. They found a shell casing, bloodstains, a gas can, and a lighter. Fire officials concluded someone had intentionally started the fire in the bedroom areas.

Soon after the fire, deputies questioned several family members. Luis quickly became a suspect. His phone records showed he was near the house during the fire. He had also recently bought a Heckler & Koch pistol after receiving a concealed pistol license.

Forensic experts analyzed the bullets and matched them to the type of gun Luis had purchased. In addition, Luis didn’t show up to either victim’s memorial service. Relatives told police they couldn’t reach him after the fire. One family member said he simply vanished.

Further investigation revealed that Oliverio had planned to withdraw $100,000 for a construction project in Mexico. Family members said he had saved a large amount through long-term investments.

Eventually, a SWAT team located and arrested Luis. Prosecutors charged him with two counts of aggravated first-degree murder and one count of arson. He pleaded not guilty and remains in jail on a $5 million bond.

The family fire murders shocked the community and devastated those close to the victims. Investigators continue to gather evidence as the case unfolds.

Ultimately, the family fire murders have raised deep concerns about family violence and hidden financial motives.
