U.S. Considers Military Action Against Iran as Tensions Rise

National Security Adviser Mike Waltz stated Sunday that the U.S. is keeping all options open in response to Iran, including the possibility of military action. His remarks follow recent airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, targeting the Iran-backed group responsible for attacks on shipping vessels.

President Donald Trump defended the strikes, warning that further attacks on U.S. vessels would not be tolerated and that Iran would be held fully accountable for its involvement. Waltz emphasized that Tehran’s support for groups like the Houthis, Hezbollah, and Hamas must end.

The administration is also engaged in negotiations to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Waltz suggested that expecting Ukraine to reclaim all lost territory may not be realistic, questioning whether the U.S. should pursue an approach that could lead to prolonged conflict. Meanwhile, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff described a recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin as productive and confirmed that the two leaders are expected to speak later this week.
