President Donald Trump is set to address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night, marking his first major speech of his second term. He is expected to outline his vision for the country under the theme “The Renewal of the American Dream.”
The address, scheduled for 9 p.m. EST, will be delivered before the full Congress. While not officially termed the “State of the Union” since he has not yet completed a full year in office, the speech will serve a similar purpose—highlighting the administration’s achievements and policy agenda.
Trump has moved quickly to align the federal government with his “Make America Great Again” platform. On his first day back in office, he signed over 200 executive actions and has maintained a rapid pace since then. His upcoming speech will reportedly focus on four key areas: domestic and international accomplishments so far, economic policies, a renewed push for increased border security funding, and his plans for global peace.
The president is expected to highlight more than $1.7 trillion in investments since his return to office, including efforts to boost energy production, expand AI and private-sector growth, and bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. Additionally, he will urge Congress to approve further funding for deportations and the continued construction of the southern border wall.
On foreign policy, Trump plans to outline his strategy for restoring global stability, including steps to bring an end to the war in Ukraine and secure the release of hostages in Gaza.
Ahead of the address, Trump posted on social media, promising, “Tomorrow night will be big. I will tell it like it is!” A White House official echoed this sentiment, stating that the president intends to deliver a direct and candid message to the American people.
