Trump Praises India-Pakistan Ceasefire, Vows Trade Boost Amid Fragile Peace

President Donald Trump pledged to increase trade with India and Pakistan following their newly established ceasefire. His announcement came shortly after the two rival nations agreed to pause military operations after several deadly days of conflict.

On Saturday, Trump posted on Truth Social, celebrating what he called a breakthrough. He said he would personally support further talks regarding Kashmir, a long-disputed region. Trump’s message followed several days of intense U.S.-backed diplomatic efforts.

Despite the agreement, sporadic violence continued. Artillery fire erupted in parts of Indian Kashmir just hours after the ceasefire announcement. However, the overall situation remained calmer than previous days.

The most recent violence began after a deadly attack in Pahalgam. That assault, which killed 26 Hindu men, reignited tensions along the border. Within days, both militaries exchanged fire using drones, missiles, and heavy artillery.

By late Saturday, each side accused the other of breaking the truce. India claimed Pakistan had resumed shelling, while Pakistan said Indian forces opened fire first. Both governments stated they remained committed to peace.

Trump called the leadership of both nations “strong and courageous.” He praised their decision to stop further aggression. According to Trump, millions of lives were potentially saved by this bold move.

He also emphasized his plan to enhance economic cooperation with both countries. “Substantial trade growth” was promised as part of this peace effort. Trump’s statement positioned economic growth as a reward for restraint.

On Sunday morning, border towns slowly resumed normal life. Sirens in Amritsar signaled an end to emergency conditions. In Pakistan, minor firing occurred near Bhimber, but no casualties were reported.

The fragile situation remains tense, but hopeful. Leaders in both countries continue monitoring border areas closely. For now, violence appears to have subsided.

The White House considers this peace deal a diplomatic win. According to officials, the U.S. will remain engaged in India-Pakistan ceasefire diplomacy moving forward.

The ultimate goal, Trump stated, is a long-term solution for Kashmir. He framed India-Pakistan ceasefire diplomacy as part of a broader regional strategy. With ongoing support, India-Pakistan ceasefire diplomacy could lay the groundwork for permanent peace.
