Trump Officials Consider TV Show Where Immigrants Compete for US Citizenship

Trump officials consider TV show where immigrants could earn US citizenship through a televised competition. The proposal, pitched by Canadian-American producer Rob Worsoff, is under review by the Department of Homeland Security. The show would feature contestants facing challenges across various U.S. states.

Participants would engage in trivia, civic tests, and physical tasks designed to reflect American values. One proposed challenge involves building a rocket at NASA headquarters. Worsoff explained that the concept aims to boost patriotism and spark nationwide discussions on what it means to be American.

Tricia McLaughlin, a Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman, confirmed the pitch is currently under evaluation. She emphasized the department’s openness to “creative ideas” that promote civic responsibility and national pride.

This pitch arrives as immigration enforcement ramps up under President Trump’s second term. Since returning to office, he has implemented sweeping measures, including mass deportations. His administration has used the Alien Enemies Act to deport suspected gang members to Central and South America.

Trump officials consider TV show concepts even as enforcement efforts grow. Homeland Security recently requested 20,000 National Guard troops to help execute immigration operations. The department currently has only 7,700 agents in its removal operations unit.

To reinforce the southern border, 10,000 troops have already been deployed. A newly established militarized zone allows soldiers to detain undocumented migrants directly at the border.

Worsoff, inspired by his own path to US citizenship, said the show could humanize immigrant stories. He believes the series would provide a platform for contestants to share their journeys and dreams. Rather than focus on elimination, the show would celebrate resilience, diversity, and commitment to American ideals.

He also reassured that those who don’t win would not face penalties or deportation. Final details would depend on network collaboration and government oversight.

Trump officials consider TV show formats as part of a wider immigration agenda. The series could shape public perception and create a new conversation about national identity and opportunity.
