Trump Hosts White House Iftar, Thanks Muslim Supporters

President Donald Trump welcomed Muslim leaders and diplomats to the White House for an iftar dinner Thursday night, celebrating growing political support from Muslim Americans.

“The Muslim community was there for us in November,” Trump told attendees, referencing his improved performance with Muslim voters in 2024. Analysts credit the shift to dissatisfaction with Democratic policies on Gaza.

The event featured Saudi Ambassador Princess Reema bint Bandar and two Muslim mayors from Michigan who backed Trump’s campaign and were later appointed ambassadors. Trump also highlighted his Middle East efforts, including the Abraham Accords and January’s Gaza ceasefire.

While maintaining Ramadan traditions, the gathering served as both a cultural celebration and political showcase, with attendance notably higher than previous years. The dinner came amid renewed Gaza violence, though officials stressed ongoing ceasefire negotiations.
