Throws Baby Down Chute Staten Island Man Charged

A horrifying event recently unfolded in Staten Island, where a man allegedly throws baby down chute inside an apartment building. As a result, police arrested 39-year-old Aaron Henderson after responding to a call at a residential complex on Steuben Street.

Initially, officers spoke with witnesses who described the disturbing scene. Reportedly, Henderson placed his 1-year-old niece into a garbage chute located on the building’s third floor. Consequently, the child fell to the ground floor.

Fortunately, the infant survived the fall. Her parents quickly rushed downstairs after realizing what had happened. Soon after, they found their daughter crying but alert at the bottom of the chute.

Eventually, emergency responders transported the baby to a nearby hospital. Doctors treated her for a minor torso injury. Thankfully, she remained in stable condition and continued to recover.

Meanwhile, law enforcement took swift action. Officials charged Henderson with three counts of assault. In addition, he faces two counts of unlawful imprisonment and one charge for endangering the welfare of a child.

According to reports, Henderson lives with autism. Moreover, officers described him as emotionally disturbed during his arrest. Nevertheless, the investigation remains active as authorities work to understand what led to this shocking event.

Understandably, the local community responded with disbelief and sadness. Longtime residents said they had never witnessed anything similar. For example, neighbor Milton Franklin expressed his concern from his apartment door.

“I’ve lived here over 20 years,” Franklin said. “I’ve never seen something like this before.” He also remembered seeing the child’s mother get into the ambulance holding her crying baby. Furthermore, he shared his hope that the family finds healing after this trauma.

“As a parent, I’m hurt. I just pray this family feels supported and safe moving forward,” he added. In the coming days, police will continue investigating the incident. Additionally, they have asked anyone with information to contact authorities.

Although the baby is safe for now, the event deeply unsettled the neighborhood. Many residents remain thankful that the infant survived after someone throws baby down chute. This situation serves as a reminder of how quickly danger can arise. Consequently, community members have rallied together in support of the family.

Ultimately, the case reinforces the importance of mental health support, awareness, and early intervention. As officials work toward justice, they hope to prevent future tragedies like this one where someone throws baby down chute in a moment of crisis.
