Texas Family Mourns Loss of 3-Year-Old After Fatal Crash

A Texas family is grieving after a crash claimed the life of a 3-year-old girl.

The family believes they were waiting for help too long, leaving them vulnerable on the roadside before the fatal crash occurred.

The incident happened on the northbound lanes of Interstate 45. ShaVohn White, 26, had pulled over when her tire blew out. She was inside the car with her daughters, Chloe, 5, and Camiria, 3. While waiting for roadside assistance, a Honda Civic veered out of the HOV lane and slammed into their vehicle. The crash caused both cars to burst into flames.

First responders arrived quickly and pulled ShaVohn and Chloe from the wreckage. They rushed both to the hospital with critical injuries. Unfortunately, 3-year-old Camiria died at the scene. The family feels the long wait for help exposed them to unnecessary danger, contributing to the fatal outcome.

Authorities identified the other driver as 55-year-old Donald Carson.

Carson suffered injuries and received treatment at the hospital. Later, law enforcement arrested him. He now faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.

Carson has a previous DWI conviction, which only adds to the severity of the charges against him. It’s unclear whether he has secured legal representation.

ShaVohn’s mother, Shundrell White Brady, expressed her heartbreak in an interview. She explained that her daughter waited on the roadside for two hours while waiting for help. Throughout that time, ShaVohn kept in constant contact with family members, who were trying to reach her. Brady believes the delayed response left her daughter and granddaughters at risk.

One of ShaVohn’s sisters, who visited her at the hospital, described the overwhelming emotional toll of seeing her loved ones in such critical condition.

One relative said, “She could have been anything—the next president, the next mayor, or something even greater. We’ll never know.”

The family held a vigil to honor Camiria’s memory. They also set up a GoFundMe campaign to support them during this difficult time. ShaVohn’s son, Chance, was not in the car when the crash occurred.

Despite their grief, the family continues to share one painful message: they were waiting for help too long.
