A Dallas SWAT standoff ended violently after police confronted an armed suspect linked to a Texas congresswoman. Authorities confirmed officers shot and killed the suspect after he allegedly pointed a gun during the Dallas SWAT standoff.
Investigators said the suspect reportedly worked as a security guard connected to Jasmine Crockett. The incident unfolded late Wednesday inside a parking structure at Children’s Medical Center Dallas.
According to police, officers from the Dallas Police Department located the suspect while pursuing an active arrest warrant. Fugitive officers tracked him to the hospital garage, where the confrontation soon escalated into a tense Dallas SWAT standoff.
Police said the man barricaded himself inside a vehicle shortly before officers attempted negotiations. Authorities deployed tear gas in an effort to force the suspect out of the car safely.
Eventually, the suspect exited the vehicle while holding a firearm and reportedly pointed it toward officers nearby. Police immediately opened fire after perceiving a serious threat during the Dallas SWAT standoff.
Emergency responders declared the suspect dead at the scene shortly after the shooting occurred. Officials confirmed the suspect displayed the weapon but did not fire any shots during the encounter.
Fortunately, no officers or civilians suffered injuries during the confrontation inside the hospital parking area. Investigators also confirmed the suspect’s identity remains withheld while authorities notify family members.
Police stated the man faced an outstanding warrant connected to impersonating a law enforcement officer. Authorities believe he falsely claimed police credentials while recruiting off-duty officers for private security jobs.
Reports also indicated the suspect used several aliases, including the name Mike King. Law enforcement sources said he previously assisted security operations connected to events involving Crockett.
Sources further indicated the suspect participated in security details during political activities in Washington and Texas. Those assignments reportedly included campaign appearances linked to Crockett’s previous Senate primary campaign.
Additional information suggests the suspect managed security teams at several hotels across downtown Dallas. Investigators also believe he supervised security operations connected to activities at his local church.
Authorities discovered the suspect drove a replica undercover police style vehicle during his alleged operations. Investigators said the vehicle displayed license plates reportedly stolen near a military recruiting office.
Officials continue reviewing evidence and witness statements to determine the full timeline surrounding the deadly confrontation. Meanwhile, police leaders emphasized that officers responded according to protocol when the suspect aimed a firearm toward them.
The Dallas Police Department has not released further details while investigators review the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Representatives for Crockett’s office have not publicly commented on the suspect’s alleged connection so far.
