Tensions in the Middle East intensified in June after U.S. strikes hit Iranian nuclear facilities. However, support for Israel under President Donald Trump reached unprecedented levels. This growing alliance drew praise from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During a recent appearance on Life, Liberty & Levin, Netanyahu described his relationship with Trump as unlike any other. He said the bond reflected “mutual respect” and “open discussion,” which set it apart from previous administrations.
Netanyahu acknowledged that America leads the free world. Still, he emphasized Israel’s critical role as the region’s democratic stronghold. “It’s not equal,” he said, “but it’s deeply respectful.”
He credited the unity with Trump for achieving goals once thought impossible. Netanyahu pointed out that earlier presidents were respectful, but this connection stood out. “This is different,” he stated.
Additionally, he applauded Trump’s approach to Middle East policy. According to Netanyahu, Trump brought a “refreshing view” and a strong commitment to peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu defended nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. He cited Trump’s peace efforts across several conflict zones. “He tried to bring peace to every single corner of the earth,” Netanyahu said.
Yet despite these accomplishments, Netanyahu warned about a growing challenge: media disinformation. He claimed that mainstream news outlets waged an ongoing campaign of misinformation. This, he said, had become a new front in Israel’s ongoing struggle. “We won on seven battlefronts,” Netanyahu declared. “Now we face an eighth—the war against lies.”
Furthermore, he called out journalists spreading false narratives. “Shame on you,” he said. “That’s not journalism. That’s propaganda.” Since the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, Israel has faced global backlash. Critics targeted the country’s actions in Gaza and accused it of excessive force.
Nevertheless, Netanyahu vowed to fight falsehoods with facts. “Our only weapon is the truth,” he said. “We will fight the information war, too.”
In conclusion, he reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.-Israel bond. “Support for Israel must continue,” Netanyahu urged. “We’re partners in both defense and truth.”
