NC Woman Faces Charges After Reckless Driving With Baby

A reckless driving arrest in North Carolina has raised serious safety concerns. Authorities say a woman endangered both a child and other drivers during a high-speed incident. Deputies stopped the vehicle on Highway 70 near Princeton after the driver allegedly exceeded 100 miles per hour. The speed limit in the area is 55 miles per hour. Officers reported the driver reached 103 miles per hour.

Inside the car, deputies discovered a 1-year-old baby. Investigators said the child was not properly secured in a car seat. Officers acted immediately to ensure the child’s safety. Authorities identified the driver as a 24-year-old woman from Goldsboro. Deputies arrested her at the scene and transported her to the Johnston County Detention Center. The court later set her secured bond at $2,500.

Officials charged the woman with multiple offenses. These include driving while impaired, speeding, reckless driving, and misdemeanor child abuse. Officers said her actions demonstrated extreme disregard for safety. Initial reports suggested a high blood alcohol level. Court records later confirmed her BAC was dangerously elevated during a roadside test.

Family members arrived to take custody of the child. Officials confirmed the child left the scene safely. Authorities emphasized the dangers of reckless driving. They warned that excessive speed, impaired driving, and failing to secure children can have deadly consequences. This reckless driving arrest serves as a warning to other drivers. Law enforcement continues to investigate the case and urges the public to follow traffic laws and prioritize safety.
