Melania Trump Urges Putin to Prioritize Peace and Children’s Safety

First Lady Melania Trump has sent a heartfelt letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In it, she called for urgent action toward peace and for protecting children around the world. The letter, exclusively shared by sources close to the event, was hand-delivered by President Donald Trump. This took place during a major U.S.-Russia summit in Anchorage, Alaska, last Friday.

Melania opened her message by highlighting the dreams of children. She emphasized their shared hopes for love, safety, and possibility regardless of where they are born. She wrote, “Every child deserves to live in a world where innocence is preserved and conflict has no place.”

In her letter, she stressed the moral responsibility of global leaders. Melania urged them to look beyond borders and politics in favor of protecting children and ensuring their safety. She described children’s laughter as a powerful sign of resistance against violence and fear. “Even in dark times,” she wrote, “children carry hope within their silence.”

Addressing Putin directly, she added, “You have the power to restore their joy. By protecting children, you serve not only your nation but all of humanity.” Those present at the summit confirmed that Putin read the letter immediately. Both American and Russian officials stood quietly as he absorbed its contents.

This message came just before the first in-person meeting between Trump and Putin in several years. Their last summit happened in 2021, just eight months before Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. Since early 2025, the two leaders have spoken several times by phone. Each conversation has focused on negotiating an end to the war in Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later confirmed plans to meet with Trump in Washington, D.C. He expressed support for a proposed three-party peace summit involving the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia. Melania Trump’s letter concluded with a firm message. Her call was simple and urgent: “It is time.” At the heart of her appeal, the message was clear protecting children must come before politics.
