Manhunt Intensifies in Sibley County for Shooting Suspect

The manhunt in Sibley County for Vance Boelter, the suspect in a deadly double shooting, has escalated. Officials discovered Boelter’s vehicle on the roadside along Highway 25, a key area between Green Isle and Belle Plaine. Alongside the car, police found a cowboy hat matching the one Boelter wore in recent surveillance footage.

As the search enters its second day, law enforcement has ramped up efforts around a nearby property. This site, located roughly 100 yards from the road, currently hosts a significant police presence, including SWAT teams. While authorities have not confirmed if Boelter remains in the area, they have urged local residents to stay indoors and secure their homes and vehicles.

The tragic shooting claimed the lives of state Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, sparking outrage and fear throughout the community. According to family members, Boelter attacked Senator Hoffman’s household, shooting him six times and his wife Yvette five times. Miraculously, Yvette shielded their daughter Hope, who escaped unharmed.

Hope’s safety is a rare silver lining in this tragic event. Their nephew, Mat Ollig, described the attack as a “political act of terrorism” carried out by a “vile person disguised as a cop.” He also revealed chilling text messages Boelter sent to his friends hours after the shooting, hinting at his awareness of the consequences.

Boelter’s roommate received messages indicating he might soon die. In these texts, Boelter expressed regret and affection for his friends before apparently going into hiding. Meanwhile, Boelter’s wife Jenny was detained during a traffic stop.

Police discovered she was carrying weapons, cash, and passports, raising further concerns about a possible escape plan. As the manhunt intensifies, law enforcement remains committed to capturing Boelter swiftly and safely. The community continues to grapple with the shock of the violent crime, hoping for a peaceful resolution soon.
