Man Allegedly Stashes Easter Eggs Filled with Marijuana Across Texas Town, Sparks Police Hunt

Police in Lufkin, Texas, are on the lookout for a man accused of hiding Easter eggs filled with marijuana around the town and posting “scavenger hunt” clues on social media. The suspect, Avante Nicholson, is wanted by the Lufkin Police Department (LPD) after he allegedly distributed several plastic eggs in public parks and a motel, and shared images online to help people find them.

According to the LPD’s press release, the hunt began when a local resident saw Nicholson’s social media post about the eggs and alerted authorities. In the post, Nicholson shared photos that hinted at the locations of the hidden eggs. Police were able to track down four eggs, one of which was found by a man and his granddaughter at Winston Park the following day.

The eggs contained more than a quarter-ounce of marijuana, and further investigation led police to identify Nicholson as the owner of the social media page. His posts included statements about selling narcotics and offering clues for those who “shopped” with him that day.

Nicholson now faces four felony warrants, including charges for delivering marijuana in a drug-free zone, which involves areas such as schools, parks, and youth centers.

Police Chief David Thomas expressed concern over the potential risks the egg hunt posed to children in the area, emphasizing the importance of public safety in all cases. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information.
