A tragic Las Vegas gym shooting left two people dead and injured three others. The incident began around 1:34 p.m. at the Las Vegas Athletic Club on North Rainbow Boulevard.
Soon after several people called 911, police rushed to the gym. Officers spotted an armed man standing near the entrance. When he saw the officers, he ran, triggering an intense foot chase.
Officers chased the man and quickly opened fire when he attempted to flee. They struck him during the pursuit and immediately took him into custody. Medical crews arrived within minutes and rushed him to UMC Hospital. Despite their efforts, doctors later confirmed his death.
Police stated that this incident marked the third officer-involved shooting in the city this year. Fortunately, none of the officers suffered any injuries during the event.
Meanwhile, officers found one person dead inside the gym. Emergency crews transported two others to a hospital nearby. One victim remains in critical condition. Another victim, who suffered minor injuries during the Las Vegas gym shooting, drove themselves to get medical help.
Witnesses recalled terrifying moments during the attack. Gary Steward said he saw the shooter open fire near the front desk. “Bullets started coming through as people ran out,” he explained. Another witness, Claudio Vigani, said he spotted a dead body lying near a machine after hearing people shout, “Get out!”
The Las Vegas Athletic Club later released a statement expressing heartbreak. As a precaution, they temporarily shut down the facility and pledged to support the ongoing police investigation.
In a video posted by KSNV, officers surrounded the suspect as he lay motionless in the parking lot. Authorities have not yet released his identity but are working to notify his family.
Although investigators continue reviewing evidence, they have not shared a motive behind the Las Vegas gym shooting. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and reviewing security footage to understand what led to the attack.
