Kangaroo Attack Leaves Man Dead Inside Enclosure

A kangaroo attack leaves man dead in a tragic incident on a private farm in South Carolina. On the evening of May 9, police responded to an emergency call near Loris. The location was 5 Star Farm, just off Highway 746.

When officers arrived, they found 52-year-old Eric Slate deceased inside an animal enclosure. According to officials, he had entered the area containing wallabies and kangaroos. Moreover, the incident involved a kangaroo that reportedly became aggressive.

Shortly afterward, the Horry County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Slate suffered multiple blunt force injuries. As a result, the office has ordered an autopsy to clarify the official cause of death.

Meanwhile, Councilman Dennis DiSabato stated that a kangaroo was “directly involved” in the death. His comments came shortly after police confirmed the animal had not escaped the enclosure.

Additionally, Robert Slate, the victim’s relative and owner of the farm, released a public statement. He acknowledged responsibility and expressed deep sorrow. Furthermore, he emphasized that the animal remained contained and posed no threat to the community.

“This was a heartbreaking family tragedy,” Robert Slate posted on Facebook. He also asked the public to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve.

Currently, the kangaroo attack leaves man dead as the most serious incident the farm has experienced. Although other animals live on the property, all are accounted for and secure. Therefore, officials stated there is no danger to the public.

In response to growing concern, local authorities confirmed the investigation remains active. So far, no criminal charges have been filed. However, authorities continue reviewing farm safety protocols.

Unexpectedly, the peaceful rural farm became the site of a devastating accident. Neighbors expressed both sorrow and disbelief. Some noted that the farm often hosted visitors and had no history of violent animal behavior.

Going forward, officials will rely on autopsy results and witness interviews. Until then, the kangaroo attack leaves man dead remains a chilling reminder of how wild animals—even in captivity—can act unpredictably.
