iPhone 17 Air Battery Capacity and Weight Leak Reveals Slim Design and Power Tradeoffs

New leaks have finally revealed the iPhone 17 Air battery capacity and weight. Until now, most rumors focused only on its thin design. However, recent reports now offer a closer look at what to expect under the hood.

According to a reliable insider, the device will weigh about 145 grams. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Air will feature a 2,800mAh battery. These details reportedly come from a confirmed mass production unit.

Compared to earlier models, this weight places it near the iPhone SE 2 and iPhone 13 mini. The SE 2 weighs 148 grams, while the 13 mini comes in at 141 grams. Likewise, the 2,800mAh battery is close to the iPhone 12’s capacity of 2,815mAh.

Importantly, the report notes that Apple may use a high-density battery in the iPhone 17 Air. As a result, the actual power output could improve by up to 20%. This would help offset the limitations of the thinner form.

In fact, Apple’s suppliers are already preparing to ship silicon-anode batteries by the end of June. Therefore, the iPhone 17 Air could be the first Apple device to use this advanced tech.

Still, not all the news is positive. Internal testing shows only 60% to 70% of users may get full-day battery life. By contrast, other iPhones typically support 80% to 90% of users throughout the day.

To help users manage this drawback, Apple plans to launch a new battery case. This accessory should extend usage time for those needing extra power.

Meanwhile, some analysts remain optimistic. Thanks to software improvements and hardware tweaks, battery performance could still match current iPhones. Notably, Apple’s new C1 modem will reduce power consumption even further.

To make room for the battery, Apple has reportedly removed the Ultra Wide camera. Though this may disappoint some users, it frees up internal space for efficiency.

Eventually, this new model will replace the “Plus” version in the iPhone 17 lineup. Based on Apple’s usual schedule, the device will likely arrive around mid-September.

Altogether, the iPhone 17 Air battery capacity and weight suggest Apple is focusing on portability over raw endurance. Even so, many fans may appreciate the sleek, modern design.
