A shocking new twist has emerged in the Hollywood producer case. David Pearce, a convicted producer, was accused of rape by a fallen police officer. Prosecutors revealed the claim during his Los Angeles sentencing, where he received 146 years in prison for the 2021 deaths of two women.
Los Angeles County prosecutors also detailed other sexual assault allegations against Pearce, spanning more than a decade. Among his accusers was Officer Lauren Craven, 25, of La Mesa, California. She died earlier this month while helping others on a freeway.
Craven had been known only as “Jane Doe No. 5” during the trial. Officials said she accused Pearce of raping her before his arrest in connection with the deaths of model Christy Giles, 24, and designer Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26.
Authorities said Giles and Cabrales-Arzola met Pearce and two men at a warehouse party in East Los Angeles. The women later went to Pearce’s home, where he allegedly gave them GHB — a “date rape drug” — and fentanyl. Surveillance footage showed masked men dumping the women at hospitals in Culver City and West Los Angeles.
Giles was found dead, while Cabrales-Arzola died 11 days later. Testimony from seven women helped secure Pearce’s conviction on multiple rape and homicide charges.
Tragically, Officer Craven died days before Pearce’s sentencing. She was struck by a car while helping crash victims on a highway. Her department praised her as a hero who “died the way she lived — serving others.”
The Hollywood producer case has renewed debate about abuse and power in the entertainment industry. Prosecutors said Pearce exploited women for years. He will now spend the rest of his life in prison, closing one of Los Angeles’ darkest criminal cases.
