Google’s Gemini AI app has introduced a new feature called Audio Overviews, enabling users to convert detailed research reports into conversational, podcast-style discussions hosted by two AI-generated voices.
Initially launched last September within Google’s AI-powered note-taking platform, NotebookLM, Audio Overviews have evolved steadily, allowing users greater interaction and control over the conversational AI hosts. Earlier this week, Google made this feature available in its Gemini app for all users, including free and Advanced subscribers. The updated tool lets users transform slide presentations and documents into dynamic, podcast-like conversations.
The most significant enhancement is Audio Overviews’ integration with Gemini’s “Deep Research” capability, an advanced AI function designed to gather comprehensive information on specific topics by analyzing online resources. After completing a Deep Research session, users can now tap the “Generate Audio Overview” option to hear the insights presented through an interactive AI dialogue, making complex information easier to digest.
