Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani suffered serious injuries. A car crash in New Hampshire left him hospitalized. The accident occurred late Saturday night. Importantly, it happened shortly after he aided a domestic violence victim. Consequently, his spokesman confirms he is in good spirits and recovering.
Giuliani, who is 81 years old, was riding in a passenger vehicle. Suddenly, another car struck his rental from behind. The high-speed collision happened on Interstate 93. Specifically, it occurred in Manchester around 10 p.m. Both vehicles subsequently veered into the highway median. They sustained heavy damage from the impact.
Earlier that evening, Giuliani had stopped to help a woman. Apparently, she was fleeing a domestic violence incident. He immediately called 911 for assistance. Furthermore, he remained on the scene until police officers arrived. He then continued with his travels. Unfortunately, the crash happened not long after.
New Hampshire State Police were already nearby. They were handling the initial domestic incident on the southbound side. Troopers then witnessed the violent crash across the median. They quickly responded to the new emergency on the northbound lanes.
Michael Ragusa is Giuliani’s spokesman and head of security. He provided a health update. He stated Giuliani fractured vertebrae in the crash. Additionally, he suffered multiple lacerations and contusions. His left arm and lower leg were also injured.
Despite these significant injuries, his prognosis seems positive. Ragusa emphasizes the former mayor is in good spirits and recovering tremendously. He is alert, conscious, and remarkably strong. Doctors expect to release him from the hospital within a few days.
Police identified the vehicles involved. Giuliani was a passenger in a Ford Bronco. A Honda HR-V then rear-ended the Bronco. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision. Therefore, no charges have been filed at this time.
Ragusa also addressed public speculation online. He firmly stated this was not a targeted attack. Also, he asked everyone to respect Giuliani’s privacy during his recovery. He also urged people to refrain from spreading unfounded conspiracy theories.
Giuliani’s business partner and a medical provider rushed to the hospital. They are now overseeing his care and recovery process. Everyone expects him to return to business as usual very soon. The spokesman reaffirms that Giuliani remains in good spirits and recovering well from his unexpected ordeal.
