Recently, some Android users have reported seeing a new option in their Gmail notifications. Alongside the usual archive and reply buttons, a new Mark as Read from notifications button has started appearing. This indicates that Google may be testing the feature with a limited group of users.
This simple addition could offer a big boost in productivity. Often, users can decide whether an email needs a full read just by looking at the sender and subject line. With this new button, they could handle those quick decisions without opening the Gmail app or switching screens.
