Chip Roy Says Democratic Party Taking its ‘Dying Breaths’ Amid Shutdown Protests

Representative Chip Roy of Texas sharply criticized what he called the dying Democratic Party during a Republican press conference. His comments came as nationwide “No Kings” rallies protested President Donald Trump amid the ongoing government shutdown. Roy said the protests reflected desperation and decline within the Democratic movement.

Therefore, speaking on Day 20 of the shutdown, Roy accused Democrats of exploiting the crisis for political theater. He said the opposition had chosen to halt government funding in pursuit of partisan goals. Roy described the left’s nationwide demonstrations as evidence of a broken strategy driven by public stunts.

“This is the dying breaths of a bankrupt party,” Roy declared to reporters gathered on Capitol Hill Monday. He added that Democrats were “all too happy” to shut down the government for publicity. His remarks underscored growing Republican frustration with the stalled negotiations and continuing budget impasse.

Moreover, Roy appeared alongside Freedom Caucus Chair Andy Harris in a show of unity within the GOP. Both lawmakers supported the Republican leadership’s stance that Democrats were responsible for prolonging the shutdown. They pointed to the Senate’s repeated rejection of a temporary funding measure passed by the House.

However, the congressman criticized the weekend’s “No Kings” protests as misguided political theater designed to shield party leaders. He claimed the rallies were intended to protect Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer amid his re-election struggle. Roy accused Democrats of hypocrisy, pointing to past controversies involving public safety and pandemic mandates.

Furthermore, house Speaker Mike Johnson also urged Democrats to accept the Republican spending plan and end the standoff. He said Americans were growing tired of political games and wanted federal operations restored quickly. Johnson argued that Democrats’ refusal to compromise revealed a lack of leadership and accountability.

Moreover, the House continuing resolution would maintain current spending levels through late November, extending essential funding temporarily. However, Senate Democrats have blocked it multiple times, demanding inclusion of pandemic-era Obamacare subsidies. Roy and other Republicans say such conditions prove the dying Democratic Party prioritizes politics over governance.

As tensions escalate in Washington, Republicans insist that Democrats are losing credibility with frustrated American voters. Roy’s fiery remarks reinforced GOP messaging that the dying Democratic Party is out of touch with national priorities.
