Burnt Biscuits Dispute Turns Violent at North Carolina Popeyes

A violent confrontation broke out between two managers at a Popeyes in Charlotte, North Carolina, following a burnt biscuits dispute. The incident occurred at a location on South Boulevard. Witnesses say the situation escalated rapidly and ended in gunfire.

Rodney Wood, 22, now faces serious charges, including attempted first-degree murder. Police arrested him around 6 p.m. in the same shopping center as the Popeyes. Officers say Wood tried to flee but didn’t make it far.

The burnt biscuits dispute reportedly began inside the restaurant. A customer witnessed the managers arguing over the food quality. According to police records, one manager challenged the other to take the fight outside. When they stepped out, things quickly turned physical.

Wood claimed his coworker punched him three times in the face. In response, he pulled out a gun and fired two shots. He told police those were “warning shots.” However, police said the video evidence shows something more serious.

Footage from the scene allegedly shows Wood shooting at point-blank range. Both bullets hit the victim—in the groin and chest. Emergency services rushed the injured manager to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. Doctors performed surgery immediately after arrival.

Despite Wood’s claim of self-defense, authorities disagreed. According to court documents, Wood could not explain why deadly force was necessary. They said he did not face a clear and immediate threat.

The victim’s name remains undisclosed, but local news confirmed both individuals held manager positions at the restaurant.

Wood’s bond was set at $50,000. officials from the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office have not commented further.

This burnt biscuits dispute highlights how minor disagreements can spiral into life-threatening violence. The community remains stunned by the shocking turn of events at a place known for fast food, not firearms.
