Body of Boy Found in River After Train Accident

Rescue teams found the body found in river of a 12-year-old boy after a tragic train accident in Kansas. Kollin Showalter and his 16-year-old friend, Arthur Pollreis, were walking on a railroad bridge when a train struck them. Authorities quickly located Pollreis’ body nearby, but they could not find Showalter’s body for several days.

After a thorough search, a local fisherman spotted the body found in river near the KGE Dam, south of Highway 400. The fisherman immediately alerted authorities. In response, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, the sheriff’s office, and several first responders rushed to the scene. They carefully scanned the river using boats equipped with sonar technology.

Rescue teams also deployed cadaver dogs to track the missing boy’s remains. Despite the challenging and dangerous water conditions, which caused a brief pause, officials resumed their efforts promptly. After persistent searching, they finally recovered the body found in river, bringing some relief and closure to the grieving community.

Sheriff Greg Taylor publicly thanked the many first responders, volunteers, and local residents who dedicated themselves to the extensive search operation. “This has been a very difficult time for our community,” he said, emphasizing the importance of collective support. Taylor expressed deep appreciation for everyone who helped during the recovery efforts, highlighting the strength shown by the community in the face of tragedy.

Officials transported the boy’s body to the Neosho County Coroner’s office for proper identification and examination. Meanwhile, the community set up a memorial fund at Commercial Bank in Erie to provide support to the families of both victims. People can make donations at any Kansas Commercial Bank location to help ease the families’ burdens during this painful time.

Funeral plans for Kollin Showalter and Arthur Pollreis are pending and will be announced soon. This heartbreaking accident serves as a somber reminder to the public about the dangers of walking near railroad tracks. Authorities urge people to avoid these areas for their safety and the safety of others.

While the community mourns deeply, the body found in river brings an end to the search for the missing boy. The discovery offers some measure of closure for his family and friends as they navigate through this difficult chapter.
