American Man Arrested for Murder of Mother and Baby in Italy

Greek authorities arrested an American man, Rexal Ford, on suspicion of killing a 30-year-old mother and her baby. Investigators found the victims’ bodies in Rome’s Villa Pamphili park. Both lacked identification and clothing, which initially confused authorities.

Italian officials quickly launched an investigation and found strong evidence linking the American man to the murders. They believe the woman and her baby were both American. While the exact cause of death remains unclear, authorities suspect that both deaths were homicides.

Prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi stated that the woman likely died several days before the baby. Authorities found the baby’s body several hundred meters away from the mother. Reports indicate that they discovered the mother’s body covered by a black bag, which raised further suspicion about the circumstances.

Investigators learned that the American man had been seen with the woman and baby multiple times before their deaths. Video footage and witness testimonies confirmed the three were together in several locations. Some witnesses overheard them speaking in English. At one point, Ford and the woman were seen arguing in public. Police took Ford’s details after that incident.

Authorities tracked the American man’s identity by cross-referencing the footage and witness reports. They also linked him to a soup kitchen near the Vatican, where a witness recalled seeing him with the woman and child. This connection helped the investigation gain momentum.

Fingerprint evidence played a critical role in identifying Ford. Investigators found his fingerprints on the bag that covered the mother’s body. Using cellphone data, they tracked him to the Greek island of Skiathos. Police also discovered the baby’s pink dress in a trash can near the crime scene, strengthening their case against Ford.

Police estimate that the baby was between six and eight months old. At the scene, investigators found several items, including a bra, a sleeping bag, and the mother’s tattoo. The tattoo depicted a skeleton holding a surfboard and featured colors resembling the Lithuanian flag.

Ford now faces an extradition hearing in Greece. Italian authorities continue their investigation into the tragic case as they work to uncover all the details of the deaths.
