Alaska Airlines Business Launches New International Suites

Alaska Airlines unveils new international business class to attract premium travelers seeking comfort and privacy. The airline’s updated service emphasizes lie-flat suites, enhanced dining, and curated amenities for global passengers. Alaska Airlines aims to redefine long-haul travel while expanding its international footprint across Europe and Asia.

The new business class will debut this spring aboard the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, according to airline executives. Each suite features fully lie-flat seats with privacy doors, providing passengers direct aisle access during flights. The cabin design includes 18-inch high-definition screens, wireless charging, noise-cancelling headphones, and a library of over 1,500 movies.

Alaska Airlines also focuses on elevated onboard dining experiences with menus customized by route and cuisine. Travelers on Rome flights will enjoy pasta carbonara with roasted chicken, while Incheon passengers receive gochujang chicken. Service begins with fruit and cheese platters accompanied by a curated selection of wines, champagne, and cocktails. Desserts include Salt & Straw ice cream, and pre-arrival meals adapt to each destination’s flavors.

Passengers will also receive amenity kits featuring travel essentials and skincare products, designed in collaboration with Pacific Northwest brand Filson. The airline offers upgraded bedding and premium linens for increased comfort during overnight flights. International business class travelers gain access to Alaska’s airport lounges and Oneworld partner lounges worldwide. Top-tier loyalty members will also enjoy entry to select international first-class lounges.

Alaska Airlines plans to equip its Dreamliner fleet with SpaceX’s Starlink internet service later this year, improving connectivity. The rollout coincides with expanding service from Seattle to Rome, London, Reykjavík, Seoul, and Tokyo throughout the upcoming months. This expansion underscores the airline’s strategy to target high-end international travelers efficiently.

Despite announcing the enhanced cabins, Alaska Air expects first-quarter financial challenges due to rising jet fuel costs and reduced demand. Political unrest in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and flooding in Hawaii have contributed to weaker bookings, pressuring revenue. The airline noted fuel costs will reduce earnings per share by at least seventy cents, according to recent filings.

Shares of Alaska Air Group rose 2.3 percent in recent trading, although they remain down more than twenty-five percent year to date. Investors will likely monitor the airline’s international business class performance as a test of its growth and premium strategy.
