Google has officially rolled out AI Mode in Search Bar for Android and iOS users in the U.S. The feature replaces the voice input and Lens icons. Instead, users will see a new icon with a magnifying glass inside a rotating circle, adorned with the Gemini sparkle. This new design is similar to Google’s gradient logo.
Unlike the old pill-shaped shortcut, the new AI Mode icon stays visible as users scroll through the Discover feed. This change makes it much easier to access AI tools. Users no longer need to search for the feature or navigate through menus. The icon remains in place, offering constant access.
The app’s top section has also been streamlined. The colorful carousel of shortcuts, which included Translate, Homework, and Sound Search, is now gone. Instead, users will see just the Screenshots option. Voice input and Google Lens have returned, but now without their previous colorful accents.
AI Mode now also appears on search results pages. Users can quickly apply a filter and transition between tasks more smoothly.
Another update is the new shortcut in the Ask AI Mode screen. Users can now access their search history easily. A shortcut in the top-right corner allows users to view past searches without performing a new search.
The new interface was first tested in April. It is now expanding to more Android and iOS users. Those who haven’t received it yet will likely get it soon. Users still on the old interface will notice the difference once the update reaches them.
Overall, AI Mode in Search Bar offers a significant upgrade. It makes the Google app more efficient and easier to use.
