Mortgage Fraud Claims Intensify Trump-Schiff Feud

The mortgage fraud claims against Sen. Adam Schiff sparked fresh political chaos on Tuesday morning. President Donald Trump accused Schiff of lying about his primary residence to secure better mortgage rates.

Trump posted a fiery message on Truth Social targeting the California Democrat. He claimed Schiff misrepresented his Maryland home as a second residence starting only in 2020. Trump said Schiff benefited from lower rates through deceptive filings while he was still a member of Congress.

He labeled Schiff a “scam artist” and alleged that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division uncovered the scheme. Schiff quickly denied the accusation, calling it false and politically motivated.

“Trump is lashing out again,” Schiff said. “This is a baseless stunt. It won’t distract from his Epstein files problem.”

In his post, Trump declared, “The mortgage fraud claims stretch back to 2009 and continued for years.” He cited refinancing activity in 2009, 2011, and 2013 as part of the supposed scheme. Schiff listed both his California condo and Maryland house as principal residences at different times.

Christine Bish, a California-based real estate investigator, first noticed the irregular filings. She filed an ethics complaint against Schiff in Congress last year. Trump quickly amplified those findings and called for Schiff to face justice.

However, Schiff’s spokesperson firmly rejected the claims. “We already debunked these mortgage fraud claims,” the spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “Both lenders knew about his full-time use of both homes,” the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, the controversy grew as long-standing political battles reignited. Trump reminded reporters that Schiff led the Russia investigation and the 2019 impeachment trial. Schiff frequently appeared in the media and openly challenged Trump during those years.

Reporters asked Trump if he stood by the accusations. He slightly softened his tone. “I don’t know the specific charge,” Trump said. “But Adam Schiff is a serious lowlife.”

In short, Fannie Mae declined to offer any comments on the allegations. Schiff later released a video to respond. He dismissed the attack and defended his record. He also pledged to continue opposing Trump’s political efforts.

As the 2024 campaign heats up, the mortgage fraud claims have added new fuel to one of Washington’s fiercest rivalries.
